Paula Deen's racism goes far deeper than using the N word...

People are making the mistake in thinking all she did was say this word a few times.

There is much more to it...

By far the strangest, most awkward moment of the whole talk, however, is when she talks about a black employee of hers named Hollis Johnson. She says that he's become very dear to her in the 18 years she's known him, which is plenty sweet. But then she says points to the jet-colored backdrop behind her and says he's "black as this board." She proceeds to call out to him in the audience and ask him to come on stage, telling him, "We can't see you in front of that dark board!" The audience roars with laughter. Severson, shocked, says, "Welcome to New York." And Paula, characteristically, responds, "Welcome to the South."

Court records show Deen sat down for a deposition May 17 in a discrimination lawsuit filed last year by a former employee who managed Uncle Bubba's Seafood and Oyster House, a Savannah restaurant owned by Deen and her brother, Bubba Hiers. The ex-employee, Lisa Jackson, says she was sexually harassed and worked in a hostile environment rife with innuendo and racial slurs.

During the deposition, Deen was peppered with questions about her racial attitudes. At one point she's asked if she thinks jokes using the N-word are "mean." Deen says jokes often target minority groups and "I can't, myself, determine what offends another person."

Deen also acknowledged she briefly considered hiring all black waiters for her brother's 2007 wedding, an idea inspired by the staff at a restaurant she had visited with her husband. She insisted she quickly dismissed the idea.

This should make it clear. Paula Deen is racist and deserved to be fired from Food Network.

She has been trying to build up an empire like Martha Stewart. I've seen Deen labeled cookware, food, even furniture. I'm willing to bet it all goes on fire sale soon.

She will keep her restaurants in Savannah, though. Lots of people of like mind in this region.

Maybe she was able to keep her thoughts to herself, but then as she got busy and stuff the real her came out.

She should have addressed this stuff years ago.

Kinda reminds me of Mel Gibson...

This woman has no class. This has been fairly evident. Now it is glaringly evident.

Good-bye Paula. I hope y'all didn't spend it all on butter and gaudy rings 'cause somethin' tells me this gravy train is at the end of the line.
