A Man And His Cat Swim To Safety After Being Caught In Alberta Flooding (pic heavy)

Last edited Sat Jun 22, 2013, 07:03 AM - Edit history (1)

When disaster strikes the natural reaction is to grab what is most precious to you and in the case of Kevan Yaets that was his cat Momo.
The pair got caught up in flood waters on Thursday that submerged the rather unfortunately named town of High River in Alberta.
Yaets and Momo found themselves trapped in their pickup truck after it became submerged after the Highwood River overflowed its banks and sweep downstream.

With the vehicle filling with water the pair had to escape by crawling out the back window and swimming to safety.
Momo swam bravely while his owner Yaets stuck close to his pet just in case he needed a helping hand. Fortunately for the pair they were able to reach some higher ground and got help from some other people caught up in the floods.

The cat was probably thinking 'what a dumb human, trying to drive through a river is such a stupid idea'

The force of the water trapped Yeats and Momo, an eight-month-old Maine coon cat, inside. The door wouldn’t open. Yeats tried the back window, but it was locked. So he started hammering it with his elbow until it smashed. He grabbed Momo and slid through to the bed of his truck. He stood up, staring at the rushing waters, bracing himself to swim.

“Jump, jump,” bystanders yelled.

Then Momo leaped.

“She just kinda jumped out of my arms and said, ‘Hopefully you get out human, but I’m gone. You got me into this mess, you gotta get yourself out,’ ” he said.

She may have saved his life by jumping. That made him react and jump too. If he had hesitated too long, who knows?
She used up at least one life.
I'll bet those bystanders were hollering to beat the band.

gonna have to swim to rescue that kitten in that flood of milk in your sig gif.LOL

Animals know when they are in danger animals ,they also know the humans they live with love them.
Momo was there for him, swimming just ahead letting his buddy know he knew what was up and to keep him swimming.Momo is a cat hero!

Animals know some humans will help them.
Humans know the animals care and help them too.
