I've never been a fan of Paula Deen or Food Network, but I'm tellin' y'all, it'll be one hell of an awkward situation if Paula Deen and Barack or Michelle ever cross paths again. Back in 2008, Mrs. Obama was a guest on one of Paula's shows on Food (don't know the name) making southern fried shrimp for instance. (I had to restrict my search to DU and the Food Network website by accompanying my search term with site:democraticunderground.com for instance, because the Right Wing Gutter Web has been hyping the Deen/Obama connection.)
As recently as May 2013, Deen was a guest at the First Lady's Luncheon in DC.
Meanwhile the right wing websites also have been jumping all over this claim from US Magazine online that Deen campaigned for Barack Obama back in 2008.
H-h-how could it be, Deen voting for Obama and then acting so vile around her own employees? Do you think Michelle Obama will keep her distance from Deen from now on? If Deen had supported McCain or Romney I know how DU would react to the revelations, probably such threads would bump out Edward Snowden threads.

(16,844 posts)Obama's not running again, so Paula won't be campaigning for him. Paula won't have a show anymore, so Michelle won't be a guest. And I don't think Paula will be invited to another First Lady's Luncheon due to all the bad publicity. I don't think Paula and Michelle travel in the same circles, either.
