Snowden reveals US hacking into Tsinghua University in Beijing to South China Morning Post

In further embarrassment for the US, the South China Morning Post, Hong Kong’s English-language daily, reported that new documents provided by Mr Snowden showed that US intelligence had hacked into Tsinghua University in Beijing, the headquarters of Pacnet in the territory, the owner of one of the most extensive fibre optic underwater cables in the Asia-Pacific region.

The revelations threaten to further undercut recent US efforts to pressure China into what it says are state-sponsored or backed cyber theft of American government and commercial information.

The US has now formally contacted Hong Kong to ask for Mr Snowden’s extradition.

In a pointed warning to the territory, a senior administration official told the Financial Times: “If Hong Kong doesn’t act soon, it will complicate our bilateral relations and raise questions about Hong Kong’s commitment to the rule of law.”

Gee, I wonder who would benefit by such talks being undermined?

to what I imagine is going on.

China certainly is putting on a show, as well as Hong Kong, and the public is swayed to support Snowden thus distracting from any attacks against China.

They don't want to be depreciated on the world stage on their road towards greater power.

Or something.

They want to win essentially and weaken the US hand.

to me, its whistleblowing when outing the fact that americans are spied on illegally..
but being a traitor when outing our spying on other nations..

im sorry, but isn't that what we expect our intelligence agencies to do ?

I mean, lord knows china does plenty of it to us...
