The gay rights movement in the modern sense started as attempts to overturn anti-gay criminal laws. For that matter Lawrence v. Texas wasn't until 2005.

like saying affirmative action was never needed before.. that's because, in the past, it was always affirmed that white males were first to be hired, last to be fired.
White male Christians have been in charge here since day one.

That's what it really is, racism and sexism are too, and the mainstream culture finds them repulsive (as they should), but yet they give more equal time to people blaming gays for 9/11 or calling them worse than terrorists.

It seems like more people are waking up to this, but there is still a lot of work done and people need to realize that manure, even when perfumed with 'But it just feels like...' or 'traditional values', is still manure.
