Mississippi Moving Ahead With Voter ID, Too

Mississippi Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann said on Tuesday that his state will move ahead with implementing voter ID in the the Supreme Court decision striking down part of the Voting Rights Act, according to WLBT.

"Mississippi citizens have earned the right to determine our voting processes," said Hosemann. "Our relationships and trust in each other have matured. This chapter is closed."

Is that it will backfire on the Republicans because it will also have an adverse effect on older white people in rural areas, who make up most of their constituency.

I know that most Republicans have it drilled into their head by Fox, Limbaugh, and Hannity that "we need Voter ID to prevent people from voting multiple times" or some other made up ACORN horror story, but maybe they their voters experience the inconvenience first hand, they will finally see the light.

In Pennsylvania, the voters rolled right over and dutifully showed their IDs even though they were not required to. BTW, the state courts are taking up the case (again) around the middle of July. I wonder what effect this decision will have.
