End Minimum Wage - Lamar Alexander At Labor Hearing Today

People need to wake up. Wages will continue to fall if the GOP gets its way and wins full control of Congress.. In an interchange with other Senators at a hearing today Alexander said he supported ending the minimum wage during a discussion to increase it. He complained that the minimum wage is the same as welfare.

So in the GOP mind employers should be able to pay market value whatever that means. The end of the voting rights act is just the beginning since Scalia has just said he plans to eliminate any law he does not like. I wonder if labor laws are in his sights.

The Heritage Foundation funded by the Kocksuckers favor and end to the federal wage floor level. In their view minimum wage laws and other labor laws interfere with their freedom to run their business and should be unconstitutional.

This meme continues to be thrown around the political arena.

we need it jacked up, double sounds good, because that's what it's going to take to get people nourished, safely housed and healthy again. Twit.

That will also increase the revenue stream for Fed income taxes and Social Security. Twit.

However, what we also need is a maximum wage tied to the minimum wage, no executive making more unless he raises wages across the board in his company, stock options, bonuses and all the other little perks counted as wages. It's only fair. If he does better, it's because LABOR has been putting out more effort and the prick needs to share for a change. Twit.

Lamar, honey, business people have proven beyond any doubt over the last 40 years that they cannot be trusted to do the right thing and that they will drive wages down as far as they can. Look at the poverty statistics and catch a fucking clue, they've skyrocketed since liberals went out of power in 1969. Twit.

Too many families with full time workers are relying on a patchwork of food stamps and pantries and churches to scrape by. This is WRONG. Twit.

You need to be thinking about fixing this unholy mess your party has created by favoring the rich. I suggest you shut your gob and get started doing just that right now. Twit.

Oh, and you and your party owe the hard working men and women at the bottom of the heap your heartfelt apology for robbing them of the fruits of their labor for the last 40 years.

Twit.

No body should work for "minimum" (read: slave) wages. Minimum wages barely put you at the poverty level. Pay workers a sustainable living wage - prorated for the cost of living in their area. That would start to rebuild the middle class and we all know that when we have a healthy middle class, everyone benefits. Except for maybe that upper 1% and I care about them as much as they care about me - not at all.

with a single breadwinner could live on following a "thrifty" budget. That meant renting, driving a used car, but being able to afford nutritious food, a safe rental, car repairs, and basic medical care.

Now it won't support a single person working full time.

This is wrong. We need to restore it to what it should have been had it been indexed to inflation, and we need to index it to inflation.

Starvation wages are IMMORAL.

Yes, and the 1st thing would be to re-criminalize abortion, so more unwanted children may be put up for adoption by unwilling mothers, to privately run, for-profit adoption agencies, which double as employment agencies specializing in hiring out unwanted children to businesses seeking child labor.

Also, the way to solve the "student loan crisis": bring back indentured servitude.

Don't laugh, at the rate things are going, it could happen.
