Just a note on the reality of Texas politics.

Wendy Davis represents the last gasp of the former VRA. If it weren't for VRA,
she would have gotten elected. VRA is gone now.

Texas is well and truly gerrymandered, and there is nothing to stop Texas from
immediately implementing voter ID and new "redistricting" maps.

So, Texas is NOT going blue any time soon unless a LOT of people get out to
vote Democratic. And I don't just mean the ordinary lot of people, I mean a
HELLUVALOTTA people... voting blue.

But then, even if that were to happen, the Reeps will still cheat by suppressing
those helluvalotta votes through whatever means necessary.

In other words, I won't think Texas will turn blue until it actually happens.

can't TX Gov. Perry simply call another Special Session to pass the Forced Birth bill?

N.B. I use 'Forced Birth' in my attempt to follow George Lakoff's wisdom to use language to frame the issue.

Goodhair may be a little worried about the fact that he is motivating women voters

novelty of Davis' stand has worn off and people have moved on to the next issue du jour.

Right now, my wife (who stays on top of this issue much better than I can) informs me that there is only 1 clinic serving women in the entire state of Alabama. So this problem of reasonable access extends way, way beyond the boundaries of Texas.

[the San Antonio federal court used Section 2 of the voting rights act to protect this seat. It is harder to sue under Section 2 but this remedy can still be effective
