Paula Deen dropped from Food Network, Caesars Casinos and Smithfield Foods.
Shortly after Paula Deen gave an emotional apology on the "Today" show this morning, the casino corporation behind Caesars Palace has decided to sever ties with the former Food Network star.
That means that Deen's four restaurants with the casino company will now be shuttered.
Deen has restaurants in Harrah's Tunica near Memphis, Harrah's Joliet near Chicago, Harrah's Cherokee in North Carolina and a buffet at Horseshoe Southern Indiana.
"While we appreciate Paula's sincere apologies for statements she made in her past ... we have mutually decided that it is in the best interests of both parties to part ways at this time," said Jan Jones Blackhurst, executive vice president of communications and government affairs for Caesars Entertainment.
Caesars says it intends to rebrand Paula's restaurants and reopen them in a few months, according to TMZ.

(64 posts)She is an embarassment to Georgia, her and Honey damn Boo Boo. Bad enough that she promoted fatty sweets to a population already deep in obesity and diabetes, but NOW she has to show her BIG HAIR ass in the worst possible way. And whoever said Southern women of a certain age "talk that way"...BS! ...NOT the ones who were raised properly. I think I am about her age, and my mama would have spanked me for saying what she considered "white trash talk"! I don't know where she was from...maybe a time warp...but I am from Atlanta, and cannot even fathom such ignorance...Was she blind, deaf and dumb in the 60s???

(30,947 posts)most of my life. I lived Miami in the '60s and saw the racism at that time. And I didn't think anything of it because that is the way I was raised. I was accustomed to segregated fountains and bathrooms and blacks having to sit in the backs of the buses. And after I was married, my husband and I moved briefly to New Jersey. I was shocked to see blacks in the theaters and restaurants and interracial couples, which was totally taboo in the South. After moving back to Miami, my attitude was totally different.

(17,339 posts)And I ran across this the other day - http://lizzycaston.com/the-anti-paula-deen/
With Paula Deens recent PR situation (call it an expose, call it a fiasco, call it a hot Georgia trainwreck), Ive been thinking a lot about Southern Food, and why exactly Paul Deen has always made my skin crawl.
.....
My own personal issue with Deen however is simple:
Paula Deen does not honor food. She certainly doesnt honor Southern Food.
........
Southern food doesnt mean drowning everything in BUUUUUTTTAH. It means, as the French do, adding it simply for flavor, texture and a bit of satisfaction. Sure we use it, or leaf lard in pie crust. Its pie crust for effin sake. This isnt about being a martyr, its about good things as a treat and in moderation. Its about common sense. Southern food isnt about gluttony. Its about sharing your bounty with anyone who might be around who needs it. Its OK to not give someone money, but its a sin to let someone go hungry. This is what my Grandfather from Lancaster County, SC taught my father, who in turn taught it to me. You share what you have. That my friends, is Southern hospitality.
Having had Southern food, I certainly agree.
