hard! He was trying to belittle her by saying the press doesn't cover pro-life demonstrations as fully as pro-choice ones. She correctly pointed out that the TX legislators were invading women's privacy and telling them what to do with their bodies. He was obviously trying to change the subject by saying it was the prejudice of the press that made this an issue.
Way to go, Joe...keep banging your head against that brick wall...

(7,768 posts)And that's pretty much impossible with this bloviating, arrogant, rude fucker.
He got in some snark and insults too, but Dee Dee is familiar with jerks like him.
She is, of course CORRECT in her assessment.

(31,706 posts)...some things only smell worse as they age. Joey's one of them. The dude lives in this ego-driven world where he was the smartest congresscritters and the consumate politician...his legend is only surpassed by his revisionism of reality to fit that legend. Of course, if he were that reincarnation of Raygun he dreams to be he would have been a Governor or Senator or maybe even a serious Presidential contender by now. Instead he sits on a TV set in New York getting further detached from reality. He tends to think that, just like Raygun, he could use the media to enhance his creds like Ronnie did in the late 70s but his phone sure isn't ringing. Rushpublicans think he's a RINO and the rest of us think he's a joke.
Kudos to Dee Dee for standing up to the bully. My bigger concern is how the women in Texas are reacting to Sen. Davis and if we're starting to see a tipping point when it comes to attacks on women's health and their right to choose. The big way to prevent the further erosion of civil rights; especially for blacks, hispanics and women, is to clear out as many rushpublicans from state offices as possible next year...

(63,912 posts)it happened with the segment where there were 3 women on the panel.
Yesterday, against only one black man and today against 3 women (or at least two who were guests). Yesterday was probably worse because not one white person on the panel stood up for Al's position (Halperin was the worst).
I DO wish that someone would tell Joe that while more people say they are "pro-life" other polls say that when asked whether Roe v. Wade should be overturned, 70% say NO. Carville did push back a little by saying that "it depends on how the question is phrased" but he didn't have an example to offer and JOe laughed him off.

(9,001 posts)Leaning back is ...well, getting away from the source of the discomfort.
Leg crossing is protective.
But because he seems to be expanding physically by opening, it has the look of a threat gesture.
In a word, bluster.

(12,287 posts)everyone how "cool" he was because he wasn't wearing socks. Copying Danny Douch... but yeah, he also looked very threatened and defensive.
On edit: It reminds me of S.E. Copp on The Cycle ..the way she leans back in her chair with her arms pulled way back and to her side, to show she has breasts...it's really a put off.

Remembering the world through rose colored glasses is what keeps Joe sane. Reality is not something Joe has ever embraced. He doesn't think he should have to deal with reality, after all he's a television star now and must remain isolated from the truth in order to entertain viewers watching his show.
Joe is a like no other. He has occasional and temporary flashes of reality, but they are very disturbing to him, so he tries to avoid them at all costs, which means if he has to rewrite history, lie, ignore facts, or just generally be an @sshole, he'll do it.

(13,069 posts)this was about democracy. Over 100,000 people watched the live feed--unpersuaded by the media. Dee Dee had to speak over him because he could not sustain his bigfatlie once someone responded logically.

(17,111 posts)The MSM media was nowhere near the live coverage.
Thanks to the interwebs and and social media the filibuster news spread like wildfire. I am so thankful that Twitter and such exist. Now we don't have to rely on those clowns.
BTW CNN was covering the issue of whether blueberries were fattening or not with Dr.Pinsky.

(17,600 posts)Joe Scar asked if it would get similar coverage if it was a "Pro-life" (his word, not mine) person doing the filibuster. He asked for an example where a "pro-life" legislator would get that kind of "flowery, glowing" coverage.
Nobody came up with a good example on the show, but I was screaming at the TV, "Death penalty!!! If a "pro-life" person filibustered expansion of the death penalty in Texas, it would get that kind of coverage! But they wouldn't because no TRULY pro-life person ever makes it into a legislature THAT's why it's ANTI-CHOICE, not "pro-life" ".
It was the PERFECT opportunity and they all blew it. Especially given that Texas is the execution capital of the US.
