Hernandez being investigated for 2012 double murder in Boston

The plot thickens. A $37.5 million contract for throwing a ball around, yet he might be mixed up in even more murders.

Aaron Hernandez, charged Wednesday for the murder of Odin Lloyd on June 17, is also being investigated in connection with a 2012 double murder in Boston, reports said.

The additional Hernandez investigation was first reported by the Fox affiliate in Boston. The Boston Globe, citing two unnamed law enforcement officials, confirmed that Hernandez is being investigated for possible involvement with the unsolved double murder. ABC confirmed that as well.

The Boston Globe said Lloyd may have had information on that double murder, which happened last July 16 when Daniel Abreu and Safiro Furtado were ambushed in their car at a stop light, shot and killed.
. . .

The Globe quoted a law official who said that the motive for killing Lloyd might have been that he had information on Hernandez's involvement in the double murder from last July.

The Globe said investigators believe a fight broke out the night of the double murder between Abreu and Furtado and a group that included Hernandez.
Abreu, Furtado and three others left the club, and were stopped at a light when a "silver or gray SUV with Rhode Island license plates" pulled alongside them, according to the Globe. Abreu and Furtado were shot and killed but the other three men survived.

5. Denied bail - a "very, very strong" case of a "cold-blooded" murder, says the judge

Hernandez was denied bail this afternoon by a judge who said the football player might be guilty of a "cold-blooded" murder in a "very, very strong" case.

“This is not a first degree-murder charge where the facts support perhaps some kind of combat or heat of passion," said Bristol County Superior Court Judge Renee P. Dupuis.

“The facts as I understand them, as the commonwealth has presented, a case that is circumstantial to be sure but very, very strong."

Dupuis added: “This gentleman — either by himself or with two other people that he requested come to the commonwealth — basically cold blooded, in a cold-blooded fashion, killed a person because that person disrespected him.”

6. Police have possible motive in Hernandez case

well, that's a better motive than "he disrespected me"

Massachusetts law enforcement officials believe Aaron Hernandez may have murdered Odin Lloyd because Lloyd had information connecting Hernandez to the double murders that occurred on July 16 of last year in Boston.

Also today, a prosecutor revealed that police had found .45-caliber bullets in a condo rented by Hernandez and in a car linked to him.

9. He already pocketed $9M in a signing bonus on his new 5 year $40M contract

Plus it looks like he'll get an additional $2.5M guaranteed over the next two years

He'll have plenty of pocket change for toilet paper from the prison commissary

8. Good news Pats fans - Patriots will replace Hernandez jerseys you bought

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP)

The New England Patriots are offering a new jersey to all fans who want to get rid of the one they bought with Aaron Hernandez's name on it.

The team has released him and taken all Hernandez jerseys off the shelf at its souvenir store at Gillette Stadium.

The team says fans can come to their store at the stadium on the weekend of July 6-7 for a free jersey of comparable value.
