The GOP is ready to burn the nation down in every possible way. Continued smugness and complete inaction is becoming a national security threat internally. They are cutting cutting cutting and obstructing while people are dying and suffering who do not have the means to survive.
I could not be in the presence of a GOP politician without verbally accosting them. We were by the area where the homeless gather in Denver the other day and it was astounding to see the hundreds of homeless milling about near the shelter. A good a good number of them were minorities as well as poor whites. Homelessness has exploded and the MSM is ignoring and covering up the real crisis this nation is in.
Meanwhile social services are being cut across the nation. Cutting unemployment insurance, food stamps, welfare et al while pay continues to plummet is unacceptable. The fact that they are saying FU to anyone who protests and threatening arrest and jail is not what this nation is about.
The GOP is getting more mean in punishing women, minorities the poor and anyone else who are growing more desperate by the day. And I will guarantee that if the next Texas special session is protested protesters and women will be beaten and arrested. They are even cutting off the avenues of nonviolent protest and preparing to rig the vote in 2012 now that they have gotten their way with the Voting Rights Act.
At some point they will have to be confronted because they are now really out of control as a party.

(53,475 posts)... blown election after election by allowing the R's to control the narrative. Bottom line: failure to call out the R's bad behaviors in debates, in ads, etc. has been costing our side elections. And these failures have been so consistent one could easily assume it's intentional.

(10,602 posts)If believe that the fur will fly if there are demonstrations at the new session of the Texas legislature. They seem to be determined to pass those bills and crush dissent like Walker did in Wisconsin with all those anti 1st amendment initiatives that will get you arrested for even carrying a sign.

(40,416 posts)They are authoritarians and their warped interpretation of what Jesus says -- note present tense -- rules all their politics and their actions. While they speak in tongues to each other in private, we have an inkling of their true agenda by their public actions and some of their unmeasured public pronouncements, often featuring God speak. Most importantly, we can judge by their legislative actions.
We ignore this shit at our peril. We try to compromise... -- Hey President Obama! How's that working out for you?
You get my meaning.
My question is: Why don't people see what I am seeing and have been seeing building for a couple of decades?
Or am I deluded? I don't think so.
What do DUers think?

(205 posts)Dem leadership decided that sucking up to corporations was better then representing those who voted for them.
You want change, then change the quality of the democrats you vote for. Refuse to vote for and support any Corporate Dem, no matter who they are.
Compromise and the lesser of two evils is why were are in the mess we are in today.
