But it's not just remote areas like Death Valley which will be affected. Phoenix, Arizona, could break its all-time record of 122F (50), with 119 (48) forecast for tomorrow and at least 110 (43) on order for the next week.
Las Vegas is forecast to reach 116 (47), which has prompted state weather authorities to issue the following rather blunt warning. The caps are theirs:
"Intense heat waves are one of the most well-understood consequences of manmade global warming, since as global average surface temperatures increase, the probability of extreme heat events increases by a greater amount," wrote science writer Andrew Freedman on Climate Central.
"Data already suggests that heats waves have are becoming more common worldwide."

(46,436 posts)87 last week in Anchorage broke a record for hottest day which stood since 1953, and yesterday we broke the record for most 70+ days in June. It's nice for us and a welcome change from our usual cool and drizzly summers, but it's definitely not normal.

But medical calls...ooohhh boy.
Tomorrow I am going to Starbucks. Hate the coffee but live the AC.
