"Oh gosh, you got me." That's what Trayvon Martin said. After he was already dead.

The hell he did.

He actually said, "Gee whiz, you got me! I'm a goner now!"

http://tvnz.co.nz/world-news/jurors-hear-zimmerman-s-account-killing-trayvon-martin-5484565

Though Zimmerman shot Mr Martin through the heart with his 9mm Kel-Tec semi-automatic pistol, killing him almost instantly, Zimmerman also told police that the youth continued to talk after being shot.

"You got me," he quoted Mr Martin as saying, moments after he was shot. "He was still talking and I was on top of him," he added.

similar statements as you have noted. Martin was shot directly into the heart. What are the odds that anyone would be capable of those actions after a direct shot to the heart?

But I don't believe him that immediately after the killing, he couldn't remember what happened. And that interview to the police was taped, so there's no question what he said then.

You still have enough oxygenated blood pumping to keep you alive and conscious for anywhere from a few seconds to a minute afterwards, so theoretically he could have spoken or sat up before he died.

That said, Zimmerman still sounds like he's full of shit and I don't believe him.

And enough time alive for Trayvon to move from underneath him to on top of him -- and he's still talking. Right.

For all the reasons you stated. But that doesn't change the fact that there have been cases of people talking and moving after lethal heart shots for some time afterwards.

Hell, I've seen a deer take a bullet through the heart and run 50 yards before collapsing, stone-cold dead. Not perfectly comparable, but the body can do crazy things when amped up on adrenaline.

I'm trying to imagine myself in that scenario. I can't imagine getting on top of someone I just shot.

Think about the claimed scenario. Martin is on top pummeling Zimmerman. Zimmerman shoots him, then extricates himself from under Matin, then climbs on top. I'm trying to imagine someone climbing on top of a bloody and dead or dying body.

I'm not saying it absolutely couldn't have happened like that, but It seems unlikely.

and their whole defense seems to be that unless we can prove everything zimmerman said is not true he is innocent.

and because Rachel lied about her age (not under oath but to trayvon's parents) we can't trust her.
