Lesson from the Zimmerman trial

So most of talking heads on CNN seem certain that the prosecution can't win the Zimmerman case. Evidence shows that Martin and Zimmerman fought. So what's the lesson here? If you're losing a fight with someone you're allowed to pull out a gun and kill him? Or if you're losing a fight with a black guy you are entitled to pull out a gun and kill him?

i don't have time to watch the trial itself and try to catch the reports on it later but i can't stand listening to commentators and geragos is so annoying and that other guy is always defending zimmerman.

but what you say is pretty much what i'm getting. and this is why it's so frustrating.

trayvon didn't have a right to feel fear and defend himself from it ? but it was ok for zimmerman to shoot him ?

trayvon is the one who was being followed.

All of the institutions of government and justice were ready to sweep this murder under the rug, and their misfeasance and malfeasance have probably ensured that justice will never be done in this case. But according the the Supreme Court, racism is over.

politically motivated. The prosecution and police was forced to bring charges of murder against Zimmerman at first and the Governor and FBI got involved.

The judge barred the use of racial profiling as evidence in the case. She allowed several jurors on the jury, that might seem bias towards Martin being out at night. Evidence of Zimmerman's past violent history was not allowed in the case and why he was even allowed to carry a gun or allowed for community watch.

Evidence of numerous racial allegations about the past history of the Sanford police department against Blacks was not bought in this case and alleged evidence of police misconduct bought in this case from two witnesses that have not testified yet. The reason why Detective Serino removed himself from the investigation. Reasons why their Star Witness (John Good) changed or as he says clarified his testimony. Did he do it without pressure either way? In those interviews, did it look like Serino was pointing out weaknesses to Zimmerman in his testimony, more like his attorney? That is where this clarication process seems to come in again to fit everybodie's Theme of self defense.

There is also lack of witnesses knowledge about Zimmerman being the neighborhood watch captain. The only people knew in the case were attached to law Enforcement. There was only one witness claimed she even knew Zimmerman and that was only in a brief encounter. She was also part of the business community in Sanford. I find it strange the actual people Zimmerman was protecting didn't even know he was their neighborhood watch guy in the community and none of them ran to assist him if there was a lot of serious crime in that area.

I also find it strange, Mr Martin's girl Friend isn't testifying about the community and the presence of Black youth in Sanford. That could have been her son attacked or followed by Zimmerman. The consistant Theme is this is an ordinary community with no racial bias. It is further from the truth. It is a very conservative community with racial bias towards Blacks. I think racial questions need to be asked in this case, particularly to Zimmerman's father and racial statements Zimmerman has made in the past. I think the defense opened the door when they accused Martin of racial statements and made it appear Jenteal was too. I think the Judge is fooling herself, if she doesn't think this is about race and why Martin was shot down, on that night.

I am shocked that the Court permitted the zimmerman video testimony...no way to cross examine and we know Trayvon can not respond.

Did the prosecution even object to the video? I feel no passion from them.

If someone forces you into defending yourself with a CC firearm that's one thing, but putting yourself in a situation where you may have to use your SD firearm is just plain wrong.

We are the people walking home from the store with skittles. WTF are we supposed to do when some armed vigilante comes after us?
Ultimately, it's African-American who are really fucked. A white man can kill you at will and the police will throw the prosecution's case at trial, but if you try to defend yourself you're sent to death row.

and make up your own mind.

Zimmerman knows the law and he doesn't seem to think that the truth will help him. He tries to tell the investigators that he was in fear the whole time and many other things (hit in the face 20+ times) that don't fit with the evidence. Serino calls him out every time.

of Zimmerman's guilt, and I hope she's not imaginary.

This is the age of powerful smart women. I hope one
of them is on the jury, at least one.
