http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2013/07/02/watch-creationist-preacher-interrupts-atheist-monument-celebration/A man who teaches the Earth is only only 6,000-years-old heckled a gathering of atheists over the weekend as they unveiled the countrys first monument to non-belief.
The group American Atheists unveiled the 1,500-pound granite bench on Saturday at the Bradford County courthouse in Starke, Florida. but the celebration was interrupted when Eric Hovind of Creation Today climbed on top of the monument and began yelling at the crowd.
Id like to that the tolerance of the American Atheists for providing a platform to proclaim the truth that Jesus Christ is Lord, he sarcastically shouted. To the glory of God the father, thank you very much for being tolerant of other religions. Thank you so much for providing a platform to teach the truth.
The crowd was noticeably upset by the intrusion, and began shouting back at him. Eventually, Hovind thanked them for their time and stepped down.
According to the Associated Press, someone in a car also attempted to throw a toilet seat and a roll of toilet paper at the crowd, but missed.

(25,952 posts)1. Hovind. I thought that name sounded familiar.
He's the son of Kent Hovind:
Kent Hovind (born January 15, 1953) is an American young Earth creationist. Hovind has spoken on creation science and has aimed to convince listeners to reject theories of evolution, geophysics, and cosmology in favor of his interpretation of the Genesis creation narrative from the Bible. Hovind's views are contradicted by scientific evidence and some of his ideas have also been criticized by young Earth creationist organizations such as Answers in Genesis.
Hovind established Creation Science Evangelism in 1991, and frequently spoke on young Earth creationism at seminars at private schools and churches, debates, and on radio and television broadcasts. Since January 2007, Hovind has been serving a ten-year prison sentence after being convicted of 58 federal counts, including 12 tax offenses, one count of obstructing federal agents, and 45 counts of structuring cash transactions. He is incarcerated at the Federal Correctional Institution at Berlin, New Hampshire.

Just another grifter trying to fleece both gullible people in the general public AND the government. Good to see that at least one of them serving time for their crimes.
On edit: I recall a video Kent Hovind made years ago in which he suggested that anti-abortionists were perfectly within their rights to kill doctors who perform abortions. I wonder if this murderous suggestion was heard by the bastard who killed Dr. George Tiller. I know that other grifting preachers made the same suggestion, but Kent Hovind was quite popular with the fundies several years ago.

That's right! He's in federal prison because he's a lying, thieving crook!
