A) the right to not be punished so long as you obey the law

B) the right to live your life as you see fit so long as you are not a threat to others

So if the law says that I'm 3/5th of a person (which it did at one time - right there in the Constitution) and the law says that I had to go to use separate facilities - whether bathrooms, or water fountains, or even hotels, pools, seats in a theater or other public venue (which it did in way too many locales at one time - and probably still exists on places, whether explicit or not), then I am "free" as long as if I follow "massah's" "law" because I supposedly won't be "punished", despite the fact that the law itself punishes me?

Mmmmkay.

that actually do assert freedom is defined by what the law permits. If the law were to forbid a thing than the law would trumpt the presumed freedom.

Not my position, just accounting for the assertions put forward by others.
