Rape.

Rape
That's basically what this is.
Want an abortion, your punishment is being sexually assaulted by a doctor with a vaginal probe for no medical reason.

Unfortunately, the “fetal personhood” bill wasn’t the only nutty and frightening piece of legislation that Virginia’s House of Delegates passed. Another bill was advanced requiring a woman undergoing an abortion to have a “transvaginal ultrasound” — i.e., to require a doctor to insert a speculum and then an ultrasound probe into a her vagina against her will and reflect that image onscreen. Not only is a bill like this rather rape-y in its forcefulness — and yes, I realize that is a strong statement, and I mean it strongly — but there is no medically necessary reason to do so. And there are no exceptions. Gov. McDonnell has stated his intention to sign the “transvaginal ultrasound” bill if it lands on his desk.

Ah that nonintrusive small government moral high ground the modern libertarian Republican party possesses.

Women and men should join the OWS movement and march on the legislatures in these states. The GOP legislators and anyone else who vote for this trash should be personally protested in public where ever they go. They steal your privacy steal theirs.

If these republithugs are not challenged and stopped in their tracks they will do even more damage. They must be sent into retreat.

that the two are equilivent (having experienced both).

Having said that, this is outrageous.

How can the republicans promote this kind of extreem invasion of a persons privacy while at the same time decrying TSA pat-down's as being assault?

Not to mention, that if they are so concerned with the safety of the "unborn", there ARE unknown risks to ultrasound- and many OB's advise that they only be done when necessary.

Who would pay for the ultrasound? What about their claims that the Govt. not being able to require you to purchase a service?

such foolishness.
