Fox host compares Maxine Waters to Whitney Houston. Tells her to "step away from the crack pipe."

Every time you think the Republicans can't get any deeper into the sewer, they do. Here's the link:

http://livewire.talkingpointsmemo.com/entries/fox-host-compares-rep-maxine-waters-to-whitney?ref=fpb

(It's a short piece and you can read it in less than a minute.)

Do you suppose that his comment had something to do with both women being black? Then again, when talking about Fox "News" do I really need to ask that question?

I posted the details the night she died.

They had some horrid "anchor" with a droning Long Island accent talking about some magazines that had photos of Whitney's home showing a crack pipe and "stuff AWL OVAH the place." Said she should have been arrested and forced into rehab. This was within MINUTES of the news that she died.

YES, Whitney had drug and alcohol problems that she admitted many times in interviews.

But Fox just can't resist "connecting the dots" to other black women. Sadly, no one calls them on this garbage. The option is basically the grass roots move of threatening to boycott Fox advertisers. Money talks, everything else goes in one ear and out the other.

People call them on this garbage all the time. But Fox doesn't listen, because their audience eats it up, and politicians never do anything about it because they don't want to take the heat (Like maybe having their offices fire bombed).

This is a formula over there. "___________ added he/she was 'just kidding about________' but did not apologize." I don't know if this formulation originated at FAUX SNOOZE, or in some other part of the RW realm, but it seems to be all over. Sometimes it is "he/she was 'just kidding about ________' and gave a non-apology," which is just as bad or worse.

Oh yeah, this host looks like a third rate Gunther Toody impersonator. Just kidding! wink wink.

Somehow, someway, we (Dems, the Democratic Party, and sane Independents) must find a way to put an end to this crap once and for all.

I don't know how, but I really believe that Fox, hate radio, and the GOP are well down the road to destroying the country we once were. And even now, it may be too late to stop them.

I do not watch TV, but clicked the link to the segment and was stunned that this kind of BS is on the airwaves. You are so correct, they are indeed destroying America. I am appalled that this is broadcasted. Farking shocking. I think I need to go barf.

Ms. Walters is a public official. She was specifically called a drug addict (crack pipe) over the national airwaves. This smears her reputation amoung the general population as representing her district, and the people who elected her. It implies she is not capable of doing her job.

Bad, bad, bad. I would love to be a fly on the wall at Fox to hear what their lawyers are saying to this stupid host. A comment like "what is she smoking" is just vague enough, but "Put down the crack pipe" is VERY specific and leaves no doubt what he was calling her.

There are few "slam dunk" defamation cases and they are particularly hard to bring if you are a public official or a public figure. "Put down the crack pipe", like "lay off the booze" and other similar sayings have both literal and non-literal meanings. I'm fairly confident that Waters isn't going to win a big lawsuit. She won't even bother to bring one.

And before people take this the wrong way, I am in no way condoning the statement about Waters. It was highly offensive. But not everything that is highly offensive is legally actionable.

Gary Webb and Robert Parry, both stellar investigative reporters, reported on the collusion between members of the Reagan crew and the importation of crack cocaine into California as a way to raise money to pay for Central American terrorists.

REP. MAXINE WATERS: It's not about whether or not this trafficking ring gave fifty thousand Deutchdollars or fifty million dollars to the Contras. The main story is that there has been a connection made between the government, the CIA, and its involvement in drug trafficking to support the Contras. Can American citizens ever tolerate this kind of involvement or connection? We don't know how direct it was, whether or not they just kind of winked, blinked, turned their back, but it needs to be known, and it seems to me that everybody would be interested in getting to the bottom of that.

Funnier than a barrel of monkeys those guys.

He later added he was "just kidding about the crack pipe," but did not apologize.

When will these guys realize that "it was just a joke" only makes things worse?

Fox should fire this guy. There is no context or explanation which makes this ok. It is racist bullshit.

apologies. "If I offended anyone with my words, then I'm sorry"
I would bet on that.

This wins for classlessness of the day, he makes fun of a black mega star Whitney Houston who died a tragic death and at the same time slimes a black liberal congress woman with a blatantly racist stereotype.
