Anecdotal, take it for what it is worth (Re: improving economy)

Today is Thursday, a weekday. I went into a Starbucks for coffee and a pastry mid-morning today: to late for breakfast, and too early for lunch. You would not expect it to be crowded. This Starbucks is not in an urban business district, BTW (those are always busy).

It was PACKED. No place to sit, lines inside, the drive through window was constantly busy. Their products are a bit pricey, so I am wondering if folks feel more confident now in spending $4 for a cup of coffee.

I remember during the meltdown in late 2008/early 2009 how much of a mausoleum this coffee shop was, and I was worried that it would not survive the two rounds of Starbucks store closings. But I guess they made the right choice to keep it open.

If you don't mind me asking ...

I definitely think the economy is improving, but in some places much more than others. Overall, we've still got a long way to go.
