What stories in the news do you make a conscious effort to ignore?

Meaning, what news stories do you make an effort to pretend like they don't exist.

When such stories come up on your computer screen, you don't click on it; when such stories are in the newspaper you don't read them.

Doesn't matter if it's a woman or a man, a child or a senior citizen, race, religion, etc. etc. I'm at my max with violence.

The one with the animals staring from behind bars, limping, drippy eyes, and the voice over saying "why did they leave me". omg.

It's impossible to avoid them completely. I could care less about sports and have figured out the sequence of events in the 2012 GOP Primary race long ago, so no matter how outlandish it might seem, it is truly completely boring.

The first occupies and wastes WAY too much of already limited Americans' attention span. As for animal cruelty stories, sometimes I can't stop myself, but mostly I avoid them because they haunt me for days or weeks after reading them. And media pundits, well-- even though they occasionally contribute useful perspectives to public debate, mostly they repeat the same absurdities over and over as they pursue whatever agenda each pursues under a thin guise of relevancy and importance. Frankly, I find the blogosphere a much richer source of opinion.

Oh, and sports, which I pay so little attention to that I even forgot to mention it.

The other day I went to the CBS site, and it was nothing - and i mean nothing but stories and editorials and videos about Whitney and Adele, except for one story about a french bulldog scratching records on a turntable.

I can't stand reading news reports about animals being abused - or about animals who were killed while heroically saving their humans from fires and other awful things.

...and I hate to admit it, but any flareups in the Israeli/Palestinian conflict. Kinda followed it for a while years ago but decided that I couldn't do it anymore. Things would quiet down over there and then suddenly explode again and it just felt like going in circles.

I've long ago passed my tolerance level, for fluff, fear mongering, war mongering, empty rhetoric, dis-information, soft ball questions, evasive answers, justification for the status quo, hype, sensationalism, and consumer driven infotainment.
