(2,198 posts)graceful, and gracious. She seemed so genuine, standing a long time giving out hugs, compliments, encouragement, admonishments to students to do good. What a treasure the First Lady is. If you have the time, it's worth the time to view the entire video. How can you not respect this woman And Bo is a polished, first dog and displays the coolness and character of his masters.

(22,756 posts)so pleased that it's available... I'm sending a link to all my kids, saying... I really did meet the First Lady!! of course I knew they were taping while I was there but didn't find it until someone here posted it. I had about 5 minutes to compose myself after I found out she was greeting us... I was at the head of the next group in line downstairs, but one of the assistants rushed me up and through the East room into the Green room where they closed the door behind me... She greeted us in the Blue Room and was still wonderful even after an hour and half of non-stop facetime with us and of course Bo was cool as a cucumber...
We are indeed fortunate to have such a wonderful couple reside in the White House!!!

(46,585 posts)I met then candidate Obama when he campaigned here in SF in 2007. I was on crutches and was separated from my son who had the camera. He forgot about the flash ...

(32,062 posts)I visited at Christmas time back in the early 90s but it was with a White House employee and we took bunches of pictures. Is that a new rule?
handmade34
(22,756 posts)but I didn't mind... I was glad to have my full attention on the wonderful rooms in the house... it would have been extremely obnoxious to have a lot of people taking pictures during the tour and especially during the meet with Michelle Obama

(13,776 posts)Are you in the video? Did you get a hug? Michelle seemed so warm and friendly! (And weren't those little girls in pink a couple of cuties!)
Bo must be a very good boy indeed to be so relaxed and friendly with all those strangers.
Tell us more! And congratulations!
Edited to add that I saw your response about not being in the video. Oh well!

(82,383 posts)What struck me is how the girls in the line wanted to hug her and she hugs them. People feel like they know her.
handmade34
(22,756 posts)as the girls and she gave extra attention to all the young children that went through the line... hugging and teasing and giving them such positive talk... she is genuinely AWESOME!!

(22,756 posts)I had to go through Peter Welch's office to request the visit and get approved... I put in the request about 2 months before the visit.
I thought while I was there that there may have been some Republicans or others w/little respect for the Obama's but it is difficult not to respect the White House for what it is regardless of the current occupant. The history of the White House is special. I was absolutely thrilled to meet Bo and the FLOTUS but it still would have been a treat even if George Bush was there...
though... I can not even imagine that any other First lady would be as energetic and down to earth and gracious as Michelle Obama was...
