He suspended filming for last night and today's shows citing "family issues". I hope there's been no trouble for him.

(13,776 posts)I'll cut and paste this comment since it'll probably move down the list eventually, although it's at the top of the comments now:
Stephen Colbert visited my wife when she was in the hospital dying of cancer. (The hospital asked her who shed like to meet, and she said Stephen Colbert since we had planned to see the show a week or two prior but were unable to attend.) What a great, sincere, and thoughtful guy. He gave her his full attention and shared personal things about his own life experience. I hope all is well with his family and wish him well. Side note: My brother, who is a Glen Beck-watching Tea Party supporter still loves and respects Colbert for what he did for my wife. He said he even emailed Glen Beck one time to let him know that a dig he made at Colbert was inappropriate.

I'm worried... he seems like such a great guy and a real family man. I hope the hiatus hasn't got anything to do with any of his kids....

(45,558 posts)You can just tell that he and Jon and probably everyone associated with those shows are level headed and true to their roots...
I remember when he tried out the show in 2004, I was in the hospital and drugged to the max and I thought he was taking the place of Jon and I was soooo pissed the nurses had to come and calm me down.
Of course I was coming out of a drug induced Coma so I was waaaaaaayyyyyyy out there....
I hope that what ever it is that gave him cause to leave the show abrublty is not serious or life threatening...
He brings so much joy and purpose to the waste land that is Cable TV...
