Who obtained US citizenship just to get Clearance so he work in Intelligence field and feed information back to a non US entity?
In the IT field, there are many Cleared foreign born nationals who are naturalized...
Snowden applied for a job just to get access to potentially classified information..
The rabbit hole can get pretty deep..

(75,480 posts)These were Russians who were supposedly taught to be Americans and then sent here to live here and spy. Wasn't that red headed spy who offered to marry him purportedly one of those moles? So you think Snowden could be a national of another country who was taught to be an American for the purpose of spying?

(20,600 posts)And Snowden joined the army to serve in the Iraq war, but was unable to complete the special forces training due to an accident. I think that shows a fair degree of patriotism in his background.

(20,600 posts)I didn't look into his background any further, but I wouldn't be surprised if his grandfather or other ancestors were also military. It seems to run in families in some sections of the country.

Well, on second thought, maybe that's an exaggeration. Actually this would
only happen if he were trying to hide out in an "Arabic" nation.

(1,022 posts)Back in the 1980's, work-related foreign travel would be enough to deny a TS clearance.

(25,485 posts)As long as they have become US citizens...that is all the requirement...
I know plenty of IT folks from India and Pakistan all with TS clearance..
In fact, I am sure if he was a Muslim there would be a different support spin on this..

(82,383 posts)There are some who might not appreciate it as whistle blowing then. Others seem unhinged enough to still be cheering him on. They seem to want the country embarrassed, taken down a peg and so on.

According to sources familiar with the matter, Snowden, a high school dropout who later passed the high school equivalency test known as the GED, stated on his resume earlier this year he attended computer-related classes at Johns Hopkins University, a Tokyo campus of the University of Maryland and the University of Liverpool in Britain.
According to the sources, the resume stated that Snowden "estimated" he would receive a master's degree in computer security from Liverpool some time this year.
Some of the educational information listed on the resume did not check out precisely, said the sources, who are not authorized to comment publicly.

I expect you'd be cheering for Snowden and saying we should offer him amnesty.
