The appeal to the lowest common denominator

This is the modern Republican Party. This is the anti-science and anti-education Party.

Their ideal voter is a Southerner, living in a trailer, who has several guns and is a fan of NASCAR. Now there is nothing wrong with any of that but do we really want America to reflect that uneducated voter? They celebrate the knuckle-dragging mouth breathers.

They praise the survivalist-type that wants unlimited access to automatic weapons. They bad-mouth the government they covet to run.

Their education comes primarily from right-wing radio hosts with medium IQ levels who agree with their most simple-minded listeners. They hop on their holy roller bandwagon as an excuse to deny women the right to control their own bodies.

They preach to their followers that liberals are immoral and sinful. Their Party is always on the side of morality and righteousness.

They do not believe in science. They believe the earth is only 6,000 years old. They do not put any credence in global warming.

They are the Party of ignorance and they look to build a majority from ignorant people. They play to the racist and sexist elements in our society. They debase the American ideal.

The elite controlling the ones who don't mind being dominated JUST AS LONG as there is someone lower than them.

The key to gaining support of these people is knowing that they are keeping the closest eye on the socioeconomic group just below them and making sure they stay below them at all costs and that they themselves don't "descend" to that level.

they do not have the propaganda system of the right-wing, mostly because the powerful and the establishment have a vested interest in supporting the ignorant Party and they own the media and the stock market. Education and truth are enemies to the powers that be. This will forever be a challenge to the Democratic Party.
