asking the same thing.

She told me not to "jump to conclusions."

The optics of that were beyond awful. Tone deaf.

To get an agent AND GET A BOOK DEAL (that's the kicker) without prior contact in a 24-hour period is pretty far fetched.

and no, no new trial due to double jeopardy laws; unless, i think, the defendant was involved in jury tampering.
though in practice it would be more straightforward to just put the defendant in prison for jury tampering.

But it sure does set off some alarms. Verdict Saturday and signed with an agent by Monday morning? Lawyer husband? Plus with the attitude she has been showing, how the hell did she get on the jury as biased as she was?

She and her husband saw dollar signs. He made sure she answered the jury questions correctly and they went to work making sure they would be well paid for this.

The date of the contract would be proof, IF the publisher allowed it to be known. It would have to be subpoenaed to get that information. Who would do that? Yes, that would be jury misconduct (instruction do not talk about trial with anyone) if during the trial, but the judge would want the contract, and she would then have to declare a mistrial.

Edit: if her husband did all the negotiating himself (and she didn't talk to her husband about it), and she signed it after, then it is not an issue.

likely sanctions against the juror who violated the rules assuming she violated the rules.

but really guys how hard is it to call an agent saturdaynight and have the agent shop you around (getting around the anonymity rule the press cant findout who you are but you as a former juror can if you want come out.

the contracts can be faxed or esigned. her husband is an atty so safe to assume they have afax machine at the house or efax.
