Do sequestered jurors get to keep their cell phones?

Not in the deliberation room, but in their hotel room?

They must have some sort of access to digital communications because otherwise why does the Judge have to question them each time they return whether they made any communications? (Twitter, Tweet, Facebook, etc)

What I'm getting at is: could juror B37 have had a phone conversation with her husband while she was in sequestration?

1. "They’ll be allowed to use cellphones once a day to catch up with family and friends."

The 10 jurors will stay in an undisclosed hotel with no access to TV, newspapers or the Internet, officials said. They’ll be allowed to use cellphones once a day to catch up with family and friends.

get to have their cell phones in their hotel rooms. The reason the judge is asking that question is because in the past, some people have broken the rule and smuggled a cell phone into their room.

True sequestration would require being cut off from ALL outside information - TV, newspapers, computers, cell phones.

Would you take someone's word that they didn't talk or read about the case on their phone? I sure as hell wouldn't.

It was done in a local civil trial in Tampa. There was strong evidence of misconduct on part of one team of attornies. Judge ordered them to bring phones to court to be examined.

It took a few days to seat the jury and months leading up to the trial for her and her husband and other friends to talk about what they think should happen.

In her interview she said that she knew "they" rioted in Sanford before Zimmerman was originally arrested....WHICH EVER HAPPENED.

I bet she had her mind made up and lied during Voir Dire (jury picking) so that she could get on the jury, find Zim not guilty, and ultimately get a book deal. I think she should be in jail if they could go back through her voir dire questionaire and find that she has lied.

If a questionnaire asks for your spouse's employment, and she put "Attorney," and then no one ever asked her about it...that's the lawyer's fault, not her's.

Id be curious to see what was asked and how it was answered.

Jurors are sworn before being seated, and courts take a dim view of juror misconduct.
