1. I've been to LA twice

but I could never get out of the French Quarter (having WAAAY too much fun). I'm in California but I swear, the next time I go I'm determined to see something other than the French Quarter. I REALLY want to go to Cajun country.

I don't know the people but I had to drive thru the state. I couldn't wait to leave it. I am sure the people are really nice but not the highway.

11. I have been pretty fortuna to live across the united states and even in some european countries. I

have never been to FL. I never had that feeling like others in my family love to talk about going to FL. It has beaches and Disney World. Well I can go to the beaches of Ocean City and I can go to Kings Dominion in Va and not pay as much. Of course I don't really like crowded places.

16. ditto - have lived

throughout the U.S. - in Germany for 3 years, in the Middle East for 4 years and Africa for 2 years.

I like Florida - and there are wonderful beaches here. Also, have called Florida home for several decades and have never spent a day in DisneyWorld. It is not a requirement.

17. Good. I don't like to go to a place you got to wait in line for long periods of time. The rides at

other parks are just as great and your not paying for the Disney name. I contribute enough to buying their movies for my grandkids. I live in rural area of Tn and today the kids have off and it is alittle cool out but they are out there on our 12 arces playing cowboy and indian. They are having fun. Simple things in life are free. I am from MD area and there are sooooooo many places to go to that are free in DC, MD and Va areas. You don't have to spend one dime and you see history all around you. Its out there if you look.

5. I shouldn't jump in here, being from LA , but,...

...I can't help but say that I love the rich cultural heritage of this state, the diversity of the land itself - from the dense swamps to the lovely, rolling piney hillsides, and, of course, the food and the music!

I just wish there were more thoughtful, enlightened people living here who cared about electing people who truly represented ALL of the people of this state - not just the wealthy and 'connected'. In other words, I wish there were more TRUE Democrats here.
I believe I have the right to say such, being born and raised in this state.

Oh well,.....my 2 cents.

12. I had the best pork chops I've ever eaten in

a small diner east of New Orleans one morning in 1965. Three very thin pork chops and eggs for breakfast. I've been trying to duplicate those pork chops for decades. I have not succeeded.

Beyond that, I was just passing through the state, and have no long-lasting impressions of it, other than some pretty ugly poverty along the road.

that gets turned off at night.

That's charming - I want to visit.

14. wait, did you skip Kentucky, or did I miss it?

Actually I have never been to Louisiana

Nor Kentucky, that I can remember, although we may have gone through it on some childhood trip. We did goto SC, and it's kinda hard to get from SD to SC without going through Kentucky.

As for Louisiana, I was fond of the Saints back in the Archie Manning days.

18. Just been to NO a few times, loved it!

The people, especially those from outside the city were fantastic--charming, nice, funny, and very interesting. Then, the rest of my time I spent enjoying Bourbon Street, getting beignets, and trying not to sweat faster than I drank.

20. New Orleans is the World's Most Interesting City

and Lafayette, pop. 100,000 soaking wet, is the center of another cultural universe -- Cajun culture! (Real Cajun food, by the way, is spicy but not blazing hot like wannabe chefs elsewhere make it.)

Roger that on the zydeco! There are many African Americans who identify as Cajuns; zydeco is their music. The unusual name comes from a French lyric: Les haricots sont pas sales (the snap beans are not salty). If you say "les haricots" fast, it sounds like "zydeco".
