Questions about Detroit

Okay, for years now I've been hearing about how Detroit has been deteriorating and it would seem the situation is indeed dire. Supposedly, the downturn was due to the loss of jobs in the auto industry. We also keep hearing how the U. S. auto industry has come roaring back, yet I don't see how this has revitalized Detroit in any way. Anyone here care to explain to an outsider what really went on here? It almost looks as if the virtual destruction of a once-great city was part of a plan. I'm no conspiracy theorist, but to see this once-great American city in such shambles in a "recovering" economy is puzzling to me.

over the long haul...you can bet the part from the workers was paid in, put aside properly is another question. Orrrrr, those who usually have their fingers out to grab will be grabbing the pension money (if it's there) asap.
