It was totally transparent bashing by NBC-MTP to call up Tavis Smiley for his reaction to Obama's race speech on Friday. Of course he criticized it. They knew he would. That's why they invited him on the show.

The problem with Cornell West is that HE wants to be the the drum major and lead for band for the African-American movement. An ego is a terrible thing to inflate.
