I choose to live in the state of Florida not because of the people. But because of the beautiful wetlands that have yet to be disturbed or the groundfed spring rivers that most are baffled by how they work since there are no mountains in Florida. The white sandy beaches with tranquil waters on the Gulf or with active surf on the Atlantic side. The Everglades which is slowly being restored and the coral barrier reefs off of Key West. Then thetr are the barrier islands of the gulf side of the state and then the many trees and animals that make their home in Florida. To me, Florida is the last place in the United States where you can actually experience what the land on the east coast once looked like before it was transformed by humanity.
I love Florida.

(4,267 posts)I agree that there's a lot of natural beauty in our state, and contrary to popular belief, a lot of decent and normal people.
My chronic pain feels so much better when I go walk on the beach during a cold front. There's nothing to stop that cool wind, and it's just so relieving alongside the sound of the ocean waves. One of the rare times I can go far from home.
Every six months, I travel to the University of Miami for pain management. Needless to say, Miami is a massive city compared to my hometown, and it's something to be seen. So much cultural diversity there. Some of the buildings are even painted top to bottom with the likenesses of some of my favorite jazz musicians.

(402 posts)Florida is going to get hit very hard you guys need to start talking about those sea walls soon. Not sure how old you are but the next 30-50 years is not going to be kind to your state, If i had young children there i would make plans to get them the F out before they get stuck there.
With 10,000 fracking wells going up every year releasing even more methane into the atmosphere it will likely only accelerate said climate models.
