George is at least a family name. North West is a direction, not a name for a kid.

Charles has already said he'll be known as "George VII" when/if he becomes king, I think (and he's called Charles Philip Arthur George).

William's proper last name. It's a name he uses in the military. The family name is officially Mountbatten-Windsor.

or Mountbatten-Windsor. She also said Charles uses Wales.

Wonder why William would use Wales only in the military.

Prince Charles' youngest brother Edward runs a film/theatrical lighting and production company in England. Friends that work in that business talk about often getting voice mails from Edward Windsor. He does business and uses the name like anyone else would. A woman I worked with said she talked to him for about 4 months on various stuff before someone told her who he was. He hides it will, apparently, by acting very human.

Somehow that slipped under my radar screen. But, I agree Alex is the only acceptable name to call him. Poor baby. First a small cottage with no a/c, and now he's named "George." How much worse can it get for this kid?

That way, if the royalty thing didn't work out for him, he could come quarterback a football team in Texas.

(Just kidding, obviously; "George Alexander Louis" works just fine for me.)

Then they would sign their Christmas cards

Funny how posters on this list associate the name George with Americans. Has it dawned on them that for the British it has entirely different meaning and association?

Ron Howard gave his children middle names based upon where they were conceived. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ron_howard#Personal_life

His daughters' middle names indicate where they were conceived, Bryce in Dallas, and twins Jocelyn and Paige at the Carlyle Hotel in New York City. Son Reed Cross was named after a London street because "Volvo isn't a very good middle name", according to Howard

If you even considered naming your child Reed Volvo you deserve a boot to the head.

Think of the past kings. It had to be one of those names. Who names a kid George anymore? A royal, that's who.
