This Sunday/Monday I'm doing a segment on street harassment on my radio show
I'll post a link when up, I have two special guests for that segment. In it, I mention Hollaback ihollaback.org and thought I would share this.
Thanks

(18,402 posts)Hell, when I was younger I was harassed not just by construction workers what seemed like two or three times a week, but once by an entire group of New York City policemen making lewd comments as I was walking down the street with my dog. I can still feel the humiliation and anger at my inability to strike back at these men in positions of power ... who happened to have guns when I didn't. I went home and cried.
It happens every day in the US, on streets, in offices, at shopping malls. I'm only glad I'm too old to be harassed anymore.

(12,482 posts)I think the openly harassing a strange woman on the street thing is more common up north. That is not to say the south is less sexist - far from it. It just happens in different ways. I have seen it in Latin America, especially Mexico, where my family is from. But not in Texas. I have also seen it in Italy.
