and still be for the death penalty, then you need to have your moral compass checked.
Possibly the finest hour of any show I've ever seen on TV.

(114,904 posts)and it felt so real.
I hate the death penalty with such intensity- now magnified.
I'd like to make every pro dp person watch it. I know that it wouldn't make a difference with most, but maybe a few would change their minds.

(41,692 posts)their moral compass is a bit off.

(28,264 posts)I'll be interested to see what transpires in next Sunday's episode, the last show of the season.

(6,262 posts)Supposedly solved next week? Usually by now I have a culprit strongly in mind - not this time.
Good series, also like The Bridge.

(9,291 posts)If anyone knows, did this guy kill his wife or not? The first time I watched it , I thought yes. Then saw parts of the rerun, now I think no.
trumad
(41,692 posts)One minute you think yes---then maybe...and at the end--- I think no.
Next weeks final show of the season will confirm it.
Two hour final next weekend, I guess I will find out then. Thank You.

(302 posts)How wrong I can be, on last years 'The Killing' I thought the mother killed Rosie. The wife had the Aunt.

(31,828 posts)Of the first two seasons. It initially came on when my father was terminally ill - then I tried watching last year . . . and did not understand what was going on. I'm going to have to see if it is on netflix.
walkerbait41
(302 posts)Hope you both are doing ok. We thought 'The Killing' was the best cop show in a long time.

(31,828 posts)I'm really impressed with it (The Killing) . Didn't watch t.v. for a few years because of the glut of non-reality reality tee-veee.
AHS, The Killing, It's Always Sunny, The Bridge (check it out if you like the Killing - an FX one), and BBC America bring creativity back. Oh - and see if you can get Copper Season One on Netflix. It's season 2 right now - NYC Cops circa the Civil War on BBC America. It's awesome!
walkerbait41
(302 posts)But we just couldn't get into 'The Bridge' But we do like 'Copper'. We live in a black hole no high speed internet here so no Netflix for us

(31,828 posts)The 'Death Penalty' seems fine for the worst offenders.
But here's where it loses my support - I don't ask anyone to do anything I wouldn't do myself. What if - what if *I* have to play the role of executioner. I couldn't do it. I don't think we should ask ANYONE to do it at all unless every single person is potentially the person who via a lottery has to do that job. And what if - what if they are innocent. I can't give someone back 20 years of their life if wrongly imprisoned - but they have what's left of their life.
trumad
(41,692 posts)You can't pick or choose just because you deem someone a worse offender than someone else.
Why...because you can still be wrong.
If you can't be 100 percent accurate with the DP..you shouldn't use it.

(31,828 posts)And if it makes me cruel to believe people should and must receive life without parole on principle - I'll take that hit on the chin. I've no remorse that Charles Manson even in advanced age - is sitting his ass in prison for the rest of his life. Some things you just can't 'take back'. Ain't no takesy backsey with the death penalty.

(14,557 posts)..Ray was an awful man but probably innocent of murder.
Season 3 has been excellent.

(28,264 posts)If he'd been executed by shooting, there would now be a thread about it in Gun Control/RKBA, feverishly discussing what make and caliber of rifle was used by the firing squad, followed by a vigorous debate over whether or not the weapon could really be classified as "high power," and culminating with a lip-smacking dialog about how much better it all would have been, if a Really Cool Gun had been used. In other words, it would have been the D.C. Sniper incident all over again, in all its malignant glory.
And yes, he would have suffered less. I am frankly surprised that Washington is one of the few states which still offers hanging as a method of capital punishment. I thought everybody was enlightened in Washington state,
