Greenwald To Appear At Town Hall For N.J. Senate Candidate Rush Holt

The journalist at the epicenter of the controversy surrounding the revelations of top secret National Security Agency surveillance programs is throwing his weight behind Rep. Rush Holt's (D-NJ) long-shot U.S. Senate bid, the Washington Post reported Monday.

Holt's campaign said that The Guardian's Glenn Greenwald, who first reported on the NSA programs based on leaks from former government contractor Edward Snowden, will participate Tuesday in an online town hall the candidate is hosting, along with Energy Secretary Steven Chu and a group of biology and energy experts.

Greenwald actually expressed support for Holt's candidacy recently on Twitter while also taking a jab at the congressman's opponent, Newark, N.J. Mayor Cory Booker. Polls have shown Booker to be the overwhelming favorite in the special Senate election playing out this year in the Garden State.
