Never surprised, but always saddened and angered.

Living in Arkansas for the last 29 yrs. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised by blatantly obvious as well as covert bigotry!! And most of the time I try not to be angry, but sometimes I just have to strike back! Verbally of course!
Today was one of those days. I read the letters to the editor of my newspaper everyday. Today I read something that really pissed me off, and while not proud of my anger, this one deserved it.
A man writes in and says, while what Obama said about Treyvon being him 35 yrs. ago might be true. It was only true if Obama was where he had no business being .

Seriously?????

I wrote a response letter stating that since you would have to have lived under a rock not to know the circumstances of the case, exactly what part of a 17 yr.old african american male walking home from the corner store to his fathers house, in his own neighborhood with an iced tea and a bag of skittles, constituted not having any business being there.
There is one thing I loath worse than a bigot and that is a covert bigot who is to much of a coward to come out and say what he means!!
I felt like bathing in bleach after reading such a filthy letter!!!

explained a lot about that state, toad venom being hallucinogenic depending on species.

But yeah, I suppose the writer of that letter is so blinded by bigotry that he doesn't think black teenagers belong anywhere but in prison or dead.

A college town. I suffered major culture shock when I first moved here, and was so upset by the racism I almost left. But what stopped me was the thought that I may not be able to change anyones mind but that maybe, just maybe I could influence someone enough to make them think. And possibly change the way they view the world.
