Aide gave 'Principal of the Year' gift of marijuana

A special-education assistant had a gift for the Nathanael Greene Middle School principal for winning "Providence Principal of the Year" - baggies of marijuana, according to the police.

The package that Christopher Michael Sheehan, 57, handed Principal Nicole Mathis in her office on Thursday contained 15.5 grams of marijuana, according to an affidavit by Detective John Bento.

Mathis told the police that Sheehan "said it was a gift for winning the principal of the year award," the affidavit said.

Never mind the high praise. School officials called the police.

Rhode Island is known for its spirit of giving. Perhaps not known for our common sense but we are generous to a fault.

You can't gift just anybody with a free bag of weed.

Baggies(plural) totaling 15.5 grams(a little over half an ounce). A samplers pack. Priceless! I never get anything that good.
