Dems appeal to Boehner: Rebuke Limbaugh over 'slut' comments

Democratic lawmakers appealed to House speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) on Thursday for Republicans to rebuke conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh after he called a Georgetown University law student a “slut” and a “prostitute.”

Limbaugh came under fire from Democrats on Wednesday after he attacked the student, Sandra Fluke, for her testimony in a hearing about President Obama’s contraception mandate. He stood by those comments on Thursday’s show, and went a few steps further.

After saying that Georgetown students are apparently “having so much sex they’re going broke,” Limbaugh channeled earlier comments by Foster Freiss, a major donor to the super-PAC supporting GOP presidential candidate Rick Santorum.
“I will buy all of the women at Georgetown University as much aspirin to put between their knees as they want,” Limbaugh said on Thursday’s show.

Rep. Louise Slaughter (D-N.Y.) sent a letter to Boehner that was signed by more than 75 lawmakers, calling for Republicans to rebuke Limbaugh’s comments “in light of their recent refusal to allow Ms. Fluke - or any other women – to testify.”

1. I think that taking him off Armed Forces Radio would be more appropriate than asking for an apology

This kind of spew just should not have the backing of the United States military. I can't believe this is even something that needs to be said.

of sexual abuse to allow Limbaugh to spew his toxic, misogynist, propaganda poison to the troops.

Listening to his garbage can only serve to aggravate those problems within the military and I believe the government is highly irresponsible if not criminally negligent in allowing him the use of that megaphone.

Let's start a campaign to make that happen. A Facebook page? A letter-writting campaign.

His bullshit is so regressive and immature and cartoonishly sexist he doesn't deserve any public airways for what he spews.

I don't know whether an election year is the perfect time or a bad time to try to make an issue out of this. But upon giving it some thought... there couldn't be more of a split between Republicans and Democrats than there is right now, and really, no decent person would think that it's okay to talk like this... and getting him off the military's airwaves in an election year might be perfect, actually. So maybe a campaign like this would be just the thing.

Is anybody here good at organizing something like this? I hardly know how to reboot my computer, let alone use social media, so I'm not the one to try....

I don't want my hard earned tax dollars to pay for his vile rantings on Armed Forces Radio anymore!!! I mean, if Republicans can demand that taxpayers shouldn't have to pay for abortions, why can't we demand that the rest of us shouldn't have to pay for Rush to be broadcast on Armed Forces Radio? How did THAT get started, anyhow? Do they broadcast any progressive programs too?

I hope other people do the same.

That asshat should not be getting a single dime of taxpayer money to spew his disgusting sexism on the air.

,,,and Armed Forces Radio presents people tearing him down? I lived in Japan 1989-2005 and heard AFR bashing Clinton, then supporting Bush. Who oversees the programming? Isn;t AFR tax supported?

would want to continue to listen to that gasbag. Single heterosexual men certainly want their girlfriends to have contraception. Why don't the listeners rebuke his hatred?

And I'd love to see him tossed from Armed Forces Radio.
