6 arrested in player's home vandalism

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP)
Six people were arrested on charges they were among hundreds of young partygoers who trashed a former NFL player's vacation home, and police said more arrests were expected.

The arrests on Thursday came after former New England Patriots and Los Angeles Raiders offensive lineman Brian Holloway said he signed papers authorizing the Rensselaer County sheriff to bring charges in the Labor Day weekend party, which was attended by up to 400 teenagers.

Holloway said that among those charged was a young man he had taken into his family for a time as a homeless teen, who's accused of organizing and promoting the party. He said investigators have told him the number of people charged could end up in the hundreds as they work through the sheer volume of participants.

"Everyone that broke the law, I'm pressing charges against," Holloway said. "The parents had a chance and students had a chance to come forward, and only four did."

if it had been a liberal actor or musician, you wouldn't have seen that level of vitriol. sports just aren't considered to be a form of entertainment among some people.

I agree, the people defending the kids are being patently absurd. There isn't a whole lot of ethical shades-of-grey going on in this situation.

He opened his home to a teen on the streets and this is how the young man repaid him. What a heart-wrenching betrayal. I hope this doesn't diminish the home owner's charitable inclinations.

and then go after the rest of these "entitled" punks and, if they're juveniles, hit them where it counts, their parents wallets.
I am so sick and tired of the upper class rich kids who think that because mommy and daddy have money, they can do anything they want without consequences for their actions.

Brian Holloway gave them a chance to make amends by helping to clean up the mess and put the house back in order, instead, only 4 parents and their kids show up, the rest just blow him off and some of the parents threatened to sue him for posting their precious kids faces on the net.

Actions do have consequences, as these little punks are going to find out.

Report: Brian Holloway Threatened by Parents of Kids Who Trashed House, Say He Will ‘Ruin’ Their College Plans

Brian Holloway, a former Patriots lineman and the man whose vacant house in Stephentown, N.Y., was crashed for a party attended by hundreds of high schoolers from the area, is now on the defensive from the unruly teenagers' parents. Only one parent showed up with their child to help Holloway clean up the mess, and now some are threatening litigation if he doesn't stop trying to out their kids on social media.

"You would not believe the calls that have come in, threatening to firebomb me or hurt or sue me — any manner of things," Holloway told the New York Post. "Some complained that this will ruin their kids' college plans. Others have threatened me, saying 'Take my kid's name down or I'm gonna press charges against you.'"

"You’re going to press charges against me? C'mon, now. If that were one of my children, they would be doing a year's worth of apologizing."

Holloway is not speaking theoretically about "one of his children," either. He’s a father of eight, so he has probably had to deal with his share of misbehaving children.

Last year I was part of a group of seven undergrads who tutored fifth graders with reading problems. About half the kids followed instructions and worked hard. The others practiced this simple, four-step process:

1. Student breaks rule.

2. Student receives standard consequence for breaking the rule.

3. Student tells parent that learning to read is not fun.

4. Parent removes student from this free after-school program.

The parents never (ever) contacted us to see what might be done to keep their children on the right path. Never any, "My kid said this, and I want to know if it's true." In fact, referring to step number 3 above, who knows what the kids told their parents. All I know is, if they didn't like it, they just told their parents whatever was necessary to keep them from having to return, and we never saw them again.

Accountability. Irresponsible behavior has consequences.

If they blew their chance at attending a prestigious school , so be it.
Save that enrollment for a student more deserving.

Brah-VO!

I'll wager there are plenty of inner city kids who have resisted the adversities heaped upon them by their environments who deserve a better shot. Too bad there's no mechanism to transfer the opportunities.

As the kids are being charged and possibly later convicted , I highly doubt any jury will agree with a parent that their child's reputation was harmed by the actions of the player.
