Question about mold?

This post is in reference to the question about the below post.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/10023750325.

The back room in the old apartment where the majority of the issue of mold and mildew came from held our clothes which I can wash BUT a majority of my wife's books and some other nicknacks as my wife calls them.

Will that smell or mold be on the items--especially the books.

and mold/mildew is a frequent problem. I often have good results using lysol spray, but it takes multiple sprayings. I place the book on a flat surface and fan the pages as I spray above the book and let the mist settle. For really bad odors, I work on them for weeks giving them a spray several times a day.

I wipe off the covers with windex which I spray on a rag not directly on the book to remove visible mold and dirt. For newer books with slick dust jackets, windex can also be used to clean front and inside of the jackets. Always test a small part because some colors are not fast.

Good luck! It is terrible to lose a book collection to mold.
