If the House GOP caucus came forward with that deal today, they wouldn't just avert a shutdown; they'd be lauded as heroes.
Gingrich's actual shutdown 20 years ago was over a 1.5% cut in discretionary spending, with no policy changes attached.

how about instead of echoing the Republicans' "shut it down" we try something like "shut the f*ck up and just vote to fund our government".
