they bring to bear on non-tea party house republicans with the threat of a Primary Challenge. If there was a sense that those 40 members were it, they probably wouldn't have a lot of power. I think the real threat is that in every strongly Conservative/Republican District the Tea Party could run a challenger if they feel their representative isn't demonstrating real Republican (i.e. Tea Party) values.

Can oust Boner the spineless...

They can take away his gavel as Speaker AND they can "primary" him at home when his next election comes up. The "primary" tactic is the tour de force these days, there's always some well paid whackjob shill in his district ready to take him on and since he pretends to represent a district that is so jerrymandered against anyone but the shill party, well...


And all of the suggestions above also apply.
