I.E, national parks that will close just as autumn foliage is at peak. I'm hoping folk will go anyway and take some business to those who rely on income in a very narrow season. Blue Ridge Parkway will close, for example, along with the camps and parks.

Yet, I do believe that they would continue to vote against their own best interest only because OBAMA is in the WHITE HOUSE. If I don't get my pension or SS, I will continue to shout hooray to Obama and the Democratic leadership. Continue taking it to them. DAMN THEM!

12. I had mixed feelings

about that. She has more opportunity to get things done and be a true leader as a Senator than if she were to be president and leave herself vulnerable to the shit PBO is dealing with now. I'm not saying either is actually vulnerable per se but she has more leverage where she is and that's what I think she's come to understand. She's got the right idea for where she is and I think we need more like her who aren't looking for the next step in a higher office and content to stay in the Senate where they can fend off new crap from the shit-stain brainz before they gain a lot of traction. She came to office in the middle of this fight and has managed to get in the right place to keep more crap from welling up off the floor so to speak.

I am happy to have her as a Senator, the oval office is more constraining than many might imagine. I'll be glad to have her serve numerous terms there.

27. She has financial talent and there are Senate committees that need her leadership.

It's not a right wing meme. She doesn't want to run.

As a presidential candidate, she would be extremely vulnerable on a number of issues and circumstances--she's smart enough to understand this. And she's not as liberal as some seem to think she is--she would disappoint her most ardent fans, probably sooner rather than later.

I want her to stay in public life, as a Senator from MA.

"She has more opportunity to get things done and be a true leader as a Senator than if she were to be president ..."

Ridiculous. To assert that a Senator has more "opportunity to get things done" than the President is just silly. That she doesn't have aspirations for the White House doesn't change that.

It's a perfectly sound idea, not to be in such a hurry to push somebody into another job, a term-limited job btw, because you imagine they would do that job just as well. Furthermore, if someone has no desire to do that job it certainly can affect how they'll perform in it.

46. If a senator can get more done than the president, then why doesn't Hillary Clinton run again

for the Senate?

I want Elizabeth Warren for president because she is honest and aware of the cheating by the upper classes that harms us little folk.

You should see what the 401(K) mess really means for retirees. In fact, since Nixon signed the ERISA Act, the big guys have done nothing but take advantage of the rest of American.

As I see it, Elizabeth Warren is the only prominent person in American who understands that problem and is willing to even talk about it.

And, no, as just one senator she cannot do as much to set the priorities straight in America and bring integrity back to D.C. as she could as president.

All these arguments about how much more Elizabeth Warren can do in the Senate than in the White House apply to any Democrat.

The president's great advantage is his bully-pulpit. Elizabeth Warren is the only politician I know of at this time who would use that pulpit both wisely and unabashedly to fight for social justice.

There was a time when Hillary Clinton seemed quite committed to social justice. But that is no more. She has become one of them with her snooty, rich friends. She is no longer one of us.

54. As One Who Doesn't Really Support Hillary Until I Must...

this is one woman who shares my views. I was so very glad she won over Scott Brown, but perhaps we should let her settle in for a while.

I have great admiration for her, she's my kind of Democrat and I would vote for her in a heart beat, but right now would be pushing the envelope. We need the Tea Party to DEFLATE or IMPLODE, whichever could be achieved before she could make any advancement, IMO.

As for Hillary, she was good as Secretary, but we just can't keep doing Bush/Clinton all the time. In some ways I think Bill Clinton has almost been better since he left the WH than when he was in the WH. Super cheerleader, and a person that CAN bring it all together at this point in time. I voted for him, I even campaigned for him when he was the nominee, but always knew he was much more DLC than me, and as a liberal I was distressed by things like NAFTA. If I felt Hillary would lean more my way I would be happy. Just don't feel it much.

But who? I have no freakin' idea!

Response to 2naSalit (Reply #38)

43. I don't think you understand the full dimensions of the issue.

To put it kindly. Scott Brown is, of course, an imbecile and a racist asshole, but EW has an insufficient bloodline to qualify as an indigenous American--per their rules.

Her mother wasn't quite accurate when she passed on her family stories.

Saying things to me like Stupid people will do and say stupid things about which they know nothing sounds like an attempt to slyly insult me. I hope your obscure language wasn't directed at me in that fashion though your use of the sentence "But I understand your feelings about it" suggests otherwise. I'll take the high road, here and blithely assume you meant well, snarky little eye-roll-icon notwithstanding.

She was under the apparently MISTAKEN belief that she had substantial AI heritage. She doesn't. The Native American population has has something to say about this matter as well. They were certainly kinder than Scott Brown but they do have opinions about what it means to call oneself "Indian:"

http://indiancountrytodaymedianetwork.com/opinion/the-elizabeth-warren-situation-is-more-complicated-than-many-think-138915

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/fact-checker/post/everything-you-need-to-know-about-the-controversy-over-elizabeth-warrens-claimed-native-american-heritage/2012/09/27/d0b7f568-08a5-11e2-a10c-fa5a255a9258_blog.html

If you bothered to click on those links and actually read them, you would come to understand this is NOT an issue the Senator wants to revisit. It would only bring more agita to her, not less. There's plenty more on the net on this subject, and assigning "Indian names" to Senator Warren is something that gleefully mocking Republicans might do (as they continue to suggest that she wrongly received "benefits" for "lying" about her heritage), so I would, again, politely suggest that rather unfortunate and poorly thought out idea be shelved once and for all.

45. Nope, totally directed at

Scott Brown and his followers. I had no intention of upsetting you or even going in the direction of a veiled insult. I am certain you are well aware of what you were saying.

And

I am also certain that EW is not interested in any more publicity on that issue. I live among several tribes out here in the middle of "Indian Country" and have numerous affiliations (as a non-tribal member) with a number of the tribes in my area, I am fully aware of how the bloodlines thing works.

I didn't read the info you posted, prior to this, because I wasn't all that enthralled with that aspect thus my "wondering" if she had an "Indian name". I meant no disrespect toward anyone; you, any tribe or EW... well maybe Scott Brown.

I'm way out here, almost 3,000 miles from MA so I was paying attention to the real issues here during the elections. I was born in MA and spent a good part of my early years there so I kind of check on what's happening there when it comes up in the news. My actual take away from that whole issue was that regardless of her heritage, EW was the appropriate person for the job she now holds and was disgusted with the whole racist BS.

It is never my intent to insult or belittle anyone whom I respond to on this or any other blog site, it's not what I come here for and it doesn't contribute to the conversation in a positive way. It's not always easy to decipher the intent of some comments and I give you that given my wording. And I do thank you for the informative links, they do help not only me but anyone who is interested in the facts.

Thanks.

73. Cheers, then!

This whole issue would have had potential to cause EW a great deal of trouble, were it not for Scottie's absolute Major League Suckage at the fine art of debating.

The guy couldn't find his talking points with both hands if they were written on ten foot cue cards.

After the Tomahawk Chop mocking, he insisted upon calling her "Perfesser" like some sleazy cartoon character out of a Disney 'toon during the debates. That may have gone over well when rehearsing with his barn coat/beer/pickup truck buddies, but it went over like a massive wet fart in the debate hall.

She wiped the floor with him--he just couldn't hold his own. He's quite stupid, you know! And he sure acted it, too!!!

47. Many, many Americans (those of us who have been here for many generations)

have more Indian heritage than they realize.

You cannot always tell by looking at a person whether they are of Indian descent.

I have two children. They have exactly the same genetic heritage. One is extremely Scandinavian or North European looking. As for the other, one of her teachers asked me what race she was. We categorize people by skin tone or color, but it is not always so easy.

Same mother. Same father. Very different appearance. You can only judge racial background of a person if that background is strongly of one race or the other. You would be very surprised at how this can work in a family that has been racially or ethnically diverse for some generations.

I have several siblings and half of us look like my Finnish Grandmother (blond, blue eyes) and half look like the darker Europeans that are my father's parents with hints of my mother's ancestry, some of which is French and Great Lakes Native American. I once had a landlord who rented to me and a sister and they were certain that my sister and I were a couple living together and wouldn't believe we were siblings because we didn't "look" like each other.

Been there, done that, know it well.
