But really, on the whole thing. One person baptizes another's corpse. Another "converts them" to this and that. At what point does this all just become stupid sh*t that doesn't make a nickel's worth of difference?

(13,141 posts)so everybody makes stuff up, attributes it to god,
and spend their lives doing and imagining a lot of
really, silly, ridiculous stuff.
It's not different from the make believe we play as children.
We go to the moon in our imaginations, conquer nations,
fall in love with rogues, hide from monsters, and baptize
dead heretics.

(35,341 posts)They allegedly baptized Gandhi.
That means they went over to find his corpse and baptize him?
That must have been tough. His ashes were dumped at sea in 2008. Until then, it would mean breaking into his relatives house and what ... making a nice slurry with his ashes?
But isn't baptism both the dunking and the lifting up out of the water?
"Crap, John, now we have to boil off all the water. This is going to take a while. Couldn't we have just used a glass of water instead of this entire baptism tub?"
No. It's vicarious baptism. People seem to be confusing "vicarious" and "vicious."
