Logic dictates that sooner rather than later, the teahooligans will defeat themselves, but
the specifics are hard to pin time and they're are a lot of variables, and questions. One significant variable is how the MSM- and don't include such outlets as The New Yorker, the Atlantic, The Nation, Harper's or even the NYT of LA Times in the MSM. Those less interested in politics largely get their news from the networks, cable and increasingly the internet.
Yesterday's treatment by the MSM of the Veterans/tea party march was a study in kid glove treatment by the MSM as well as by the authorities.
In their inevitable dissolution or self-immolation or just plain slide into obscurity they will continue doing significant damage coaxing more rage, paranoia and race based hate out of those who are fertile ground for their message harking back to the days of a far less ethnically nation.
In the meantime, they have effectively shut down the country and they're pushing their fellow republican congress members off the cliff willy nilly to join them.

I suspect some sort of last minute deal will be struck before Thursday, but I sure as hell wouldn't bet even a wooden nickel on that. But if it does happen, it won't be a deal that will stave off another crisis in short order
How long will it take for their power to wane? Could happen within the next year or after 2014 if they suffer losses , could take more time, but it will happen.
But how much more damage will they create?
