Poll: Less than half of Republicans approve of party's budget strategy
By Mario Trujillo - 10/14/13 03:35 PM ET
The publics approval of congressional Republicans' handling of budget negotiations continues to plummet as the government shutdown enters its third week.
A Washington Post/ABC News poll found that for the first time during the shutdown, less than a majority 49 percent of Republicans approve of their partys handling of negotiations.
The poll finds only 21 percent of the public overall approving of the GOPs handling of budget negotiations.
Seventy-four percent disapprove of Republicans tactics in budget negotiations. That is a 4-point spike since last week and an 11-percent hike since just before the government shutdown. Fifty-four percent of the public strongly disapprove of Republicans, while 20 percent somewhat do.
Those numbers mirror polls by Gallup and The Wall Street Journal last week that found the GOPs rankings at record lows.
President Obamas approval rating in budget negotiations also sank Monday after seeing a slight uptick last week from centrist Democrats and independents.
Obamas approval rating on the budget hangs at 42 percent, a 3 percent drop since last week when he actually saw his numbers rise. Fifty-three percent of people disapprove of his handling of negotiations, 2 points higher than last week.
Among independents, 58 percent disapprove of Obama, while 76 disapprove of congressional Republicans.
Thirty-three percent of the public approve of congressional Democrats' handling of negotiations, a 2-point dip from last week. And 61 percent disapprove of congressional Democrats, including 44 percent who strongly disapprove. That is unchanged since last week.

that they won't touch it.
It seems to me to be much confusion and an effort by both Dems and Repugs to try to minimize Ted Cruz's influence. He's got to be seen as a threat to both the Right and Left of the Centrists.
Stuff is going off the "rails" with this latest stunt of Cruz and Palin this weekend.
I think "something's up"...because of the "Cruz/Palin" threat. But then....who knows.

A GOOD THING....but, what will they DEMAND...and how will our Dems Respond.
I'm hoping for "Line in the Sand" from Dems to Repugs...and draw that FIRM!
