Once again, Forked Tongue Cruz gets slapped down. This time it's FactCheck.org.

Long article, but some great info to counter what Cruz and company are putting out about the ACA.

Sen. Ted Cruz says his “fight against Obamacare must continue,” and so must our fact-checking of claims about the law.

Cruz distorted the impact of the Affordable Care Act on two vulnerable populations — the elderly and special needs children:
Cruz said seniors “right now” are being notified that they are “losing their health insurance” during the enrollment period that began Oct. 15. In fact, the number of seniors enrolled in the Medicare Advantage plans to which he’s referring has increased 30 percent since the law took effect in 2010 — and enrollment is expected to increase again next year.

He also claimed seniors “are facing higher prescription drug costs” next year. In fact, seniors to date have received $7 billion in rebates and prescription discounts under the Affordable Care Act, and the average senior will have the choice of more prescription drug plans for 2014.

Cruz said “families of special needs children will face a new penalty for using savings” to pay for medical expenses. He’s referring to a $2,500 cap on pre-tax contributions to flexible spending accounts. Actually, advocates for special needs children say that provision hasn’t had much of an impact, and other provisions of the new law “greatly benefit people with disabilities.”

I think they'll hold on to Cruz because he's male and Hispanic. They think he has a chance of reversing the trend in which Hispanic voters in the United States gravitate toward the Democratic Party. What's more, the Tea Party folks adore him, and they're encouraging him to double-down on stupid. I certainly hope they nominate him for President in 2016. I don't think he would stand a chance.

Marco Rubio, wonder why he was so quite during the fiasco. Same suit, different face.

WASHINGTON -- Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) on Sunday attempted to distance himself from the government shutdown strategy he and other potential GOP presidential candidates in the Senate pursued for much of the summer, arguing that blame for the shutdown rests with President Barack Obama.

"I was never in favor of shutting down the government or of defunding the government. I was in favor of voting to fund the government fully," Rubio said on "Fox News Sunday" with Chris Wallace. "The only thing I didn't want to see is us wasting any more money on Obamacare, which is already a disaster."

The big money, not so much. I think the big money is going to get behind Rubio. Here is my clue.....

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R) said Sunday that Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and other tea party members of Congress need to "show a little self-restraint" with their political strategizing, arguing that the government shutdown has badly damaged Republican policymaking priorities.

Jeb is a part of the big money machine.

The money wants anybody but Cruz, but it takes votes to win, not just money, and so long as Rush, Beck, and Heritage Action are behind Cruz (which they are), the hands of the big money folks in the party are tied.

demise of the Republican Party. But my goal isnt to get just any Democrat elected, I want progressive Democrats elected. If the Republican Party goes farther batshit crazy, then the moderate Republicans will be voting Democrat, but for conservative Democrats that share their ideologies. A one party system is not conducive to Democracy IMO.
