Wow. Who would have thought? (do I really need a sarcasm tag here?)
This is the transition and backlash period when private industry, specifically the industry most likely to lose out if the ACA is successful, starts to "set it up to fail." Power never gives up power-over willingly.
The other industries who will sabotage anything remotely benefiting "We, the people," will be the medical industry and political hacks looking for low hanging fruit and scoring easy points. Most people apparently don't bother to read beyond headlines much less question what they read beyond the headlines.
Get ready for it (oops, too late).
If you're inclined to believe everything you read and you don't bother to read beyond the headlines and/or the "facts" presented, it's going to be very painful for you if you support the ACA. If you don't support the ACA, this is your time to "shine" and post all the minor bull-shit coming down the pike.
Enjoy.
We are living in interesting times. (If you're not familiar with that phrase I suggest DuckDuckGo as your "safer" search engine.)

(13,258 posts)I think progress always "wins" in the end or we wouldn't be here telling people that in an industrial and technologically advanced world, cell phones and cable are a "luxury." (Catapulted by the "right" and echoed by the tight-ass not-"right."
In the 21st Century, cell phones (smart phones), cable, health CARE, and depending on your locale, autos are baseline survival technology for even the poorest of the poor.

(881 posts)Better add air conditioning to that list. FOX News seems to be attacking it lately as a "luxury" the poor shouldn't have.

Thank you for the reminder.

Do they plan for the long term or just immediate results?
I'm quite comfortable attacking the ACA from the left; we should have had the scary "socialized" medicine about 50 years ago and the ACA is a band-aid on a sucking chest wound; in private. In public? I'm not that naive.
For now, and in this real world, we have the ACA.
Anyone ignorant enough to attack it from the left right now, needs to go learn politics...in the real world. I don't give 2 shits what someone says in their own little group, but on a public board...
Tell me, if you can, what will their "Christmas Bonuses" look like in 5 years...10 years?

(4,795 posts)Hey, repealing that anti-trust exemption was sort of a no-brainer, eh? You all seriously picked quite the winner to spend the next 10 years going to bat for

(6,234 posts)The ACA is the greatest gift to private corporations in American HISTORY. For the first time in our history they have a lock on the life of every single citizen. You must buy their product or break the law. And more, they not only have that Tsunami of cash heading their way (with a guaranteed profit no less) they have taxpayer funded subsidies as well.
No other industry has a deal even close to this. None ever has.
And you think they are bothered by this law? That's as silly as claiming the banks were unhappy to be getting their trillion in bailout bonus money.

Just so you know, you hit my radar a while back. DU rules don't allow me to type what I think of you and your posts; so I won't.

(6,234 posts)If you think I am wrong about something post why you think that way. I might be opinionated, but I am not afraid to change my mind or admit when I am wrong.
Or don't bother. That's okay too. It's a message board not a job.

(13,258 posts)The insurance industry is raising rates and cancelling insurance coverage and attributing their actions to the ACA.
Much like the "joe the plumbers" of the world are blaming the ACA (or the stimulus) for having to fire employees since they can't financially support the workers. (It's all in their heads since they don't have a business or employees to fire.)
It's a massive case of blaming anything but their own incompetent practices for their failures.
It's what bullies do. It's what abusers do. Blame others for their own shortcomings.

(25,026 posts)Never heard of the scorpion and the frog? At some point it ain't the scorpion's fault that it stings your ass. We are way, way past that with the insurance cartel.
I'm also inclined to believe you might be looking through rose colored glasses at the entire situation.
