American exceptionalism. I see it discussed. What I believe it is

I believe what "American exceptionalism" is is the fact that anybody born in the USA is a citizen of the USA.
This is exceptional in that there are countries that do not allow you to be a citizen just do to the location of your birth.

That is why France (in my opinion) is having so much problem with muslim "immigrants" who are actually 2nd or third generation
"French" but have no citizenship because France only wanted them for their labor.

Much the same way the USA wants Brown people to come do the stoop labor of agriculture and then wants them to "go home".

My point is that this 'anyone born here is American" is what made America exceptional. It is why we have been able to assimilate wave after wave of immigration and still remain "American".

Some posters seem to feel American exceptionalism implies some benefit bestowed by God,
or is some moral or character attribute allowing the USA global hegemony.

I thought I would offer my opinion and solicit your feedback.

1. To be fair

There are many people in Europe that come from elsewhere are are accpeted, such as Sarkozy himself..however, there is a tendency in Europe to never, ever, ever accpet a foriegn born person as a true citizen, no matter how much they speak the language, understand the culture, and fit in.

Look at it this way, for every Ted rall or other white immigrant, there are many North Africans in france that barely know Arabic at all, yet are considered outcasts.

Canada alone may be closest to us, but the Immigrant embracing is only done really in Toronto and Vancouver. Quebecois love a term called "Vrai" which means that none expcet pure white qubecois are "true Blood". Alberta, come on, it's Texas with snow.

2. To be fair, there are people in the US who don't believe a black person will ever be a

"true American". My point was not that nationalists (racists) exist,
it was that the term "American Exceptionalism" originally meant.
It is Being misused now to justify the same kind of exclusionary nonsense as those who use the term "Vrai".
The sub text seems to be that only WE (the chosen) deserve the rights of citizenship.
