2. I grew up around Eastern European Detroit, so the stores told of family members/beloveds/friends

seeing each other by accident on the streets after the war were not unheard of. I am too young to have been there, but my mother told the story of 2 sisters who ran into each other at the Eastern Market in Detroit in the 50s, neither one knew the other had survived.

I do hope they get the chance to see one another in person some day soon.
